Kristen Tranetzki
Kristen Tranetzki represents individuals and companies in a broad range of civil, criminal, and regulatory matters. She regularly defends clients in criminal investigations and cases in both state and federal court at the trial level, as well as advises on the criminal implications for civil proceedings. She also advises students and educators in conduct code proceedings, Title IX investigations, and other school disciplinary actions. Ms. Tranetzki also has significant experience in internal investigations and government accountability matters.
Before joining Angeli Law Group, Kristen practiced with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York, New York, where she worked on a global investigation related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the 9/11 Property Damage Litigation involving the World Trade Center. She later practiced with Lane Powell PC in Portland, Oregon, where she represented financial institutions and handled securities-related litigation. She also had a clerkship with Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and an externship with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
Representative Matters
- Co-chaired multiday bench trial challenging denial of public records request by state entity on behalf of large national non-profit organization, securing verdict in favor of client on claims that the state entity failed to comply with state law.
- Led internal investigation into allegations of false statements in federal grant application submitted by regional non-profit organization.
- Advised dozens of individuals as pool counsel in multi-year investigation by several government bodies into large financial institution and served as witness counsel in related matters.
- Successfully litigated an anti-SLAPP motion through appeal on behalf of individual accused of malicious prosecution.
- Defended large global corporation in proposed class action toxic tort litigation in state court.
- Assisted trial team of former Chief Security Officer of a publicly traded technology company against federal criminal charges arising out of a data breach.
- Successfully represented college students at several different universities accused of violating school’s sexual misconduct policies, ultimately resolved with a finding of no violation.
